Thermal tops will keep your upper body warm in the water.
Your upper body is also the spot on the body that needs the most sun protection in the water, so thermal tops also prevent your shoulders and back from getting burned. The heat reflecting capabilities of thermal tops make them as good as a 2mm neoprene wetsuits but thermal tops are only 1.0mm thick. Thermal tops keep you warm without affecting your manoeuvrability.
